The Sonoco Institute was created to exploit the synergies that exist between the graphic communications and packaging science departments. It is the only university program in the country with this one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary approach to packaging as a core competency.
This three and a half day workshop is geared towards prepress operators whose background was in press operation or manufacturing. The workshop starts off with attendees going on press to print a job, where they will learn more about platemaking, ink formulation, and more. Print samples will be analyzed and measured. For the remainder of the workshop, attendees go hands-on with the tools available in Photoshop, Illustrator, and other prepress software needed to prepare artwork for printing. On the final day, after making adjustments to the art, attendees will go back on press to see the result of good prepress work. This workshop will place an emphasis on computer skills.
