The Sonoco Institute was created to exploit the synergies that exist between the graphic communications and packaging science departments. It is the only university program in the country with this one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary approach to packaging as a core competency.

Clemson Student Awarded 2018 Rossini Scholarship

Clemson, SC – The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics is proud to congratulate Clemson University Graphic Communications student, Katherine Treadaway, for accepting the Rossini Scholarship at this year’s Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) Forum. This is the fifth consecutive year that a Clemson University student has been awarded the scholarship, which grants funds to both the student and their school for a winning flexographic research proposal.

Upcoming Corrugated Packaging Seminar

Clemson, SC – The Corrugated Packaging Seminar at Clemson University’s Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics will provide a comprehensive, hands-on exploration of corrugated packaging technologies. The seminar, led by Dr. Dan Malenke, President of PKGPRO, LLC, will take place June 6-7, 2018 at the University. On completing the program, attendees will be equipped to make valuable contributions to critical packaging decisions.

Digital Plates & Screening for Flexo Seminar

Clemson, SC – The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics at Clemson University has revamped a popular industry seminar – Digital Plates and Screening for Flexo on May 30-31, 2018. The course will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at optimizing all variables in the plate selection process.

Clemson Team Wins 48 Hour Repack Competition!

A team of 4 graduate students from Clemson University was awarded first place in the 2013 IOPP 48 Hour Repack Competition for their innovative dress shirt packaging design, “MPRESSED”. 

Student Group Finalists for 48 Repack Competition

A team from Clemson University placed in the top 3 in this year’s 48 Repack Student Packaging Design Competition. The goal of the competition is to create “smart design” packaging for everyday products.

Seminars in Full Swing

Spring seminar season at The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics is in full swing!

Clemson University at Flex2013

Faculty from the Sonoco Institute and the Graphic Communications department participated in the Flex2013 printed electroincs conference in Phoenix, AZ last week. They worked wth Cal Poly to put on a half day workshop, provide live demos at their booth during the show, spoke during two sessions, and had 2 entrees in the poster session.
